HOLDEN, Maine – The Holden Fire Auxiliary, other area fire department organizations and volunteers are raising funds for retired firefighter and EMT David Morrill and his family. A series of strokes has left David unable to work and heat his home for the upcoming winter.
A benefit spaghetti supper, silent auction and dessert auction will be held 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Holbrook School, 202 Kidder Hill in Holden, to cover travel costs and impending medical bills.
Fire auxiliaries and firefighter unions in Brewer, Dedham, Eddington, Holden and Orrington have pledged to raise money for a new pellet stove and pellets for the Morrill family.
David Morrill has been with Holden Fire Department for more than 11 years and has responded to hundreds of EMS and fire-related emergencies. He also served on the Orrington Fire Department.
For those who can’t attend the spaghetti dinner, but would like to donate to the cause, People’s United Bank has set up a Holden Fire Auxiliary-David Morrill Fund account for donations at its branches, or stop by the Holden Fire Department to make a donation.
