BDN Maine Garden Show and Spring Fling

Come see all your favorite parts of the garden show April 5-7. Enjoy the music, vendors and beautifully landscaped gardens on display in the Bangor Auditorium.

Plus this year the show is expanding to include a spring and summer showcase. Be  blown away with added attractions such as:

  • Golf demonstrations and simulations with a chance to win $10,000

2pm – Beer tasting garden opens (Civic Center)

5:30 to 7:30pm – Tricky Britches performs: Rooted in old-time country, with a bluegrass kick and the bounce of a street-corner jugband, Tricky Britches will put some swing in your step from the moment you hear them. Songwriting chalk full of down-home harmonies and dirty licks, their original material harkens back to humble beginnings sawing out mountain tunes on the Portland, Maine sidewalk. (Civic Center Music Stage)

8pm – End of Friday’s show

11am to 12pm – “Feasting From the Garden Year Round” presented by Barbara Damrosch: Barbara Damrosch, called “The queen of organic growers” by The New York Times is one of the nation’s most respected garden experts and writers. She is the coauthor of the recently published The Four Season Farm Gardener’s Cookbook and the author of Theme Gardens and The Garden Primer, and writes a weekly column for The Washington Post called “A Cook’s Garden.” She appeared as a regular correspondent on the PBS series The Victory Garden, and co-hosted the series Gardening Naturally for The Learning Channel. (Landscaper Floor Stage)

11:30am – 1:30pm Travis Cyr performs:  an acoustic musician and songwriting professional. Quiet, gentle, and peaceful, yet vast, dark and strong, Cyr’s music combines vividly honest and poetic lyrics with fast-paced acoustic guitar, mandolin, and harmonica. (Civic Center Music Stage)

1 to 2pm – Presentation by the Eastern Maine Orchid Society (Landscaper Floor Side Room)

2pm – Beer tasting garden opens (Civic Center)

2:30 to 4:30pm – The Coloradas Preform: An acoustic duo with folk, bluegrass and rock roots, melted together and combined with powerful lyrics and tone. You will be captivated by these performers.  (Civic Center Music Stage)

2 to 3pm – Design with Fire, Corey Thibodeau (Landscaper Floor Stage)

3 to 4pm – Presentation on growing, diving, identifying peonies by the Peony Society of Maine. there will be a Q&A session and Prizes.

5:30 to 7:30pm – Performance by The Mallett Brothers Band: an alt-country/rock band from Portland, Maine. Dispatch Magazine calls them a “six-piece living inferno.” No Depression says they “make you want to scream at people to make them aware of the awesomeness that they are more than likely missing.” (Civic Center Music Stage)

8pm – End of Saturday’s show
