“Roméo and Juliette”
by Charles Gounod
One of the greatest love stories ever sung, Roméo et Juliette sets a passionate secret love affair amidst an unfortunate background of fervent family rivalries. Based on the timeless Shakespearean tragedy of star-crossed lovers, Gounod’s music thrills audiences with familiar tunes, beautiful arias, and turbulent ensembles. The performance stars Angela Mannino (Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, New Orleans Opera) as Juliette, and shines under the musical direction of Joseph Li (Houston Grand Opera, Wolf Trap Opera). Sung in French with projected English translations above the stage, you won’t miss a moment of drama as the story unfolds.
