“Assorted Shots” a premiere exhibit of photographs by Don Eno, will be on display through the month of June at the University of Maine at Fort Kent’s Blake Library Gallery.

His interest in photography comes in part from his background in the art field, but also as an outgrowth of his time spent outdoors. From hiking and camping at a young age in the mountains of New Hampshire and Maine, Eno took many photographs and has a collection of scrap books.

Eno currently is a journalist with the St. John Valley Times newspaper. Prior to the newspaper, he also worked at UMFK and the St. John Valley Soil and Water Conservation District.

As part of his interest in biology and outdoor recreation, Eno continues an interest in wildlife and nature photography. His work in the journalism field and further experience, with new digital photographic technologies, has enabled him to expand into new creative subject areas.

“I’ve always liked taking pictures and looking back at the beautiful places I have been to. With modern camera and computer technology, and an expanding interest in subject matter, my enjoyment of photography has grown a great deal over the past several years,” said Eno.

His photos have been selected for the cover of the 2010-2011 Northern Maine Development Commissions’ Annual Report; Friends of Baxter State Park 2012 calendar; UMFK’s Presidential Lecture Series 2011-2012 Potato Chips ChapBook. He was the overall winner of the Aroostook County Tourism’s 2011 Winter Photo Contest.

He graduated from a vocational high school in Massachusetts with a diploma in commercial art, but ended up studying biology and natural resources management at UMFK, earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies in 1991.

Eno also noted that his oldest daughter is interested in photography.

Eno resides in the Fort Kent area. You can view additional photography work by Eno at: www.doneno1.zenfolio.com
