BAR HARBOR, ME—Artemis Gallery is holding an exhibit of art work by eight College of the Atlantic graduates on Friday, June 7 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., during the first art walk of the season and Saturday, June 8 from 12 to 8 p.m. The exhibit—from blown glass to watercolors to oils, from birds to abstracts—opens the gallery’s season during the first Bar Harbor Art Walk. It features work from the eight artists’ senior projects, most of which were previously exhibited in the college’s Ethel H. Blum Gallery.
Artists are Austin Bamford, Mollie Bedick, Lilly Demers, Aja Matthews, Genny Matthews, Chris Monahan, Lindsey Nielsen and Robin Owings. The exhibited is being organized by Owings, an artist who has also been studying the business of art as a member of the college’s Sustainable Enterprise Incubator, also known as the Hatchery.
On view will be glass sculpture by Bamford, abstract ink paintings by Bedick, medicinal plants of Mount Desert Island by Demers, Aja Matthews’ graphic novel, porcelain ceramics by Genny Matthews, oil paintings of coastal MDI by Monahan, watercolors of life offshore, especially birds and whales by Nielsen and two-handed drawings and paintings by Owings, where the left and right hands draw simultaneously.
Artemis Gallery owners Cody Van Heerden and Deirdre Sword are donating a portion of the profits of any sales to COA. The gallery is located on 10 Albert Meadow Lane. For more information, contact the gallery at 288-2783.
