PORTLAND, Maine — Greg Cavanaugh will demonstrate some of USM’s R&D equipment, a Z-Corp Z800 3D laser scanner and their Objet30 3D printer. The Z800 is capable of real time 3D laser surface capture up to .0015″ scan accuracy, and is very useful for reverse engineering and scanning hand-built prototypes for further CAD work. The Objet30 3D printer has a build volume of 8x8x10 and can build high-strength, high resolution, functional ABS plastic parts directly from a 3D CAD file. Both of these pieces of equipment are available to the business community at attractive rates, funded through a grant from the Maine Technology Institute.
Greg represents the University of Southern Maine’s Campus Ventures program, which connects entrepreneurs to the University’s research & development, testing, prototyping and engineering/design services.
