BAR HARBOR, ME—College of the Atlantic’s annual spring concert will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, at 7:15 p.m. in the college’s Gates Community Center. The concert will be a mixture of classical, jazz, and popular music by the COA Jazz Workshop, the COA Choir, and the COA Community Orchestra. COA faculty member in music John Cooper directs the three ensembles.
The Jazz Workshop will perform works by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, and others; the COA Choir will be singing work by Johannes Brahms, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Paul McCartney and others; and the Community Orchestra will perform work by Brahms, Robert Schuman, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frederic Handel, Scott Joplin, and premier a piece by Cooper. Soloist on Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag will be Max Eddington, a first-year student at COA.
