Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day is an international event created to promote and celebrate the art of pinhole photography. It takes place annually on the last Sunday in April.

INTRODUCTION TO PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY at the HARLOW GALLERY, followed by a trip to the VAUGHAN HOMESTEAD to take pictures
Learn about pinhole photography and join in a community outing using the Vaughan Homestead as your muse. Join Johanna Moore in a discussion about the history and techniques of Pinhole Photography. Examples of Solargraphy and pinhole cameras by Polaroid, Sharan, and Holga will be on display. Reference material for those interested in pursuing this fun and rewarding art form will be available. Optional: The group will then spend the afternoon producing images on the grounds of the Vaughan Homestead and in Vaughan Woods. Artists who already work with pinhole cameras are invited to join the outing! For information on World Pinhole Photography Day, visit www.pinholeday.org. PINHOLE CAMERA WORKSHOP PREQUEL (optional)
Date: Thursday April 25, 2013
Time: 6-8 pm at the Harlow Gallery

Join Johanna in assembling your own Pinhole camera to use on World Pinhole Day. Attendees can purchase a Sharan cardboard 35mm camera, bring it to the Harlow Gallery and assemble it as a group. The cameras are intricate but well designed and take a couple hours to fold and put together. For those are interested in using photographic paper who have access to a darkroom, Johanna will show you how to construct a paint can & cardboard tube camera.

1. This program is an official World Pinhole Photography event that will be posted on pinhole.org. Participants will have the opportunity to share the work they create at the Vaughan Homestead with the world pinhole community via the website.
2. An opportunity to show your photographs after the event: In July the Annual KVAA Members Show is an exhibition of work ccelebrating the Vaughan Homestead and the legacy of the Vaughan family through Hallowell history. Pinhole photographs are welcome!
Vaughan Vignettes exhibition at the Harlow
In July the membership of the Kennebec Valley Art Association will present a special exhibition celebrating the Vaughan family’s long legacy in Hallowell. Vaughan Vignettes will be on view July 5-27, 2013, with an opening reception on Friday, July 5 from 5-8pm. This a members’ only show, but interested artist may join the KVAA anytime.
Artists are invited to take advantage of some of the many art and history lectures, workshops, demonstrations and plein art painting events taking place at the Vaughan Homestead and grounds and in Vaughan Woods from January to June 2013.
