In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Eastport Arts Center will host “Woman’s Art – A Conversation with Elizabeth Ostrander and Shanna Wheelock” on Sunday, March 10th at 3pm as part of the Sunday Afternoons at the Arts Center series. Ostrander studied sculpture in New York City with Jose DeCreeft before moving to Eastport, where she is a member of the Maine Sculptors Association and a founding member of the Eastport Art Gallery. Shanna Wheelock earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Southern Maine, and is now a sculptor and potter in Lubec. She is also a state certified visual arts teacher, and has taught in the public school system. This open format discussion will include the relationship between women and art, some history about women and art, in addition to each artist presenting and explaining some of their own works. This event is free and open to the public, though donations are encouraged to pay for heating and lighting the building.
