ELLSWORTH, Maine — Ellsworth Noontime Rotary, Ellsworth Tuesday Evening Rotary and Bar Harbor Rotary Clubs have come up with a way to help keep their neighbors warmer this winter.

Members of the clubs teamed up with Camden National Bank and Bar Harbor Banking and Trust to buy winterization kits that have been donated to the Washington Hancock Community Agency.

Rotary Community Service Director Matthew Mann says, “We are just happy to work with WHCA on a project that has a real impact.”

The Washington Hancock Community Agency will give away the winterization kits on a first-come first-served basis to residents of Hancock and Washington counties. The kits contain plastic to put over windows, caulking, pipe insulation and insulation kits for outlets. Their donation will make a big difference, according to Bobbi Harris, WHCA’s housing director.

“Our weatherization program suffered big cuts in federal funding this year and the program that used to provide winterization kits was also cut. We hope this will help fill some of that gap.,” he said.

Anyone interested in getting one of the kits should contact Amy Moore in WHCA’s Machias office at 546-7544.
