PHIPPSBURG, Maine — Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association will offer snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, dogsledding, winter tracking and more at its free Winter Youth Field Day 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at its facility of Route 209, Main Road.
Lunch will be provided. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Loaner equipment will be available for snowshoeing and skiing activities, or participants may bring their own.
The Field Day is organized in a series of one hour segments that give kids the opportunity to snowshoe and ski along wooded trails, track deer, bobcats and fox in the snow and ride on and perhaps even drive a dogsled. Educational demonstrations will give kids the opportunity to meet a police department search dog, and perhaps even try their skills at hiding from one of these incredible dogs. They will also learn about taking care of themselves outdoors in the winter.
