Tune in to WERU-FM, 89.9 Blue Hill and 99.9 Bangor, on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 9 am until 12:30pm for WERU Community Radio’s 25th Birthday Celebration On-Air Auction and bid on 70 items donated by members of the WERU community. Items include gift certificates for restaurants, inns, classes, concerts, galleries, garden supplies and many other services and products. Make your own celebration with these meals, events and activities, goods and services. All proceeds from the auction directly benefit WERU.

Auction items range from $50.00 in value to $750.00. The final hour of the auction features some very special items, including an overnight getaway at the lighthouse Keeper’s House on Isle Au Haut with gourmet meals, a course at the WoodenBoat School in Brooklin, a session at Maine Fiddle Camp in Montville or the Acadia School of Traditional Music in Bar Harbor, and a weekend painting workshop with Frederica Marshall on Deer Isle, to name several offerings.

All items up for bid are listed in bidding order at https://weru.org/. Items are listed in the order and groups in which they will be auctioned on air at WERU 89.9FM Blue Hill, 99.9FM Bangor between 9:00AM and 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 7th. The auction is fast and fun—bidding on each group of items lasts 8-10 minutes, and helpful phone answerers will be waiting to take listeners’ bids.

Auctioneers will describe each group of items while listeners call 1-800-643-6273 and provide name, phone number and bid to one of the WERU phone answerers. Bids will be reported on air as they come in. After bidding on an item finishes, the highest bidder will receive a call from a WERU volunteer who will confirm payment method and acquire mailing address information.

“Listeners can support local Community Radio and secure great holiday gifts,” says Matt Murphy, WERU Station Manager. “We thank all our generous business supporters who have donated these items to WERU’s Celebration Auction.” For more information leading up to the on-air auction on Saturday morning, December 7, call 207-469-6600 or e-mail info@weru.org.
