An on air auction benefit for WERU Community Radio offers more than 70 certificates donated by local farms, farmers markets, fisheries and garden suppliers. During the fast-moving, live auction each item is described on air and bidders call in their bids for farm produce, dairy and cheeses, meats, seafood, bales of hay, useful tools, organic compost, and garden amendments, all produced locally. Auction items will be listed in advance at www.weru.org, along with a link to the donor’s website.
Farming and gardening are alive and well in WERU’s listening area and WERU is proud of the Maine farming tradition. A monthly MOFGA program and summer calendars of local farmers markets are integral parts of WERU’s programming, now in its 26th year. Generously sponsored by Maine Farmland Trust and Maine’s Own Organic (MOO) Milk, the WERU On-Air Farm & Garden Auction celebrates Maine’s local farms, farmers markets, fisheries, and garden suppliers and WERU’s commitment to local growth, sustainability and cross-pollination in the community.
