BELFAST, Maine — Rick and Karen Miles will share photographs and stories from their Arctic travels at the Belfast Free Library at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in the Abbott Room. The Miles’ travel aboard Wanderbird, a 90’ steel fishing trawler converted for carrying passengers. Using stirring images to accompany their descriptions of out port villages in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and the Western coast of Greenland, Rick and Karen convey their deep affection for the regions they visit every summer.
Rick and Karen operate Wanderbird Expedition Cruises out of Belfast, taking twelve passengers at a time on Arctic voyages each summer. Their business is born of a passion for Northern culture and life at sea, which they share underway with their guests and are excited to share with their community here at home this winter.
A collection of photographs chronicling the Arctic voyage of the Wanderbird is on display at the Belfast Library’s Kramer Gallery through January. For more information, visit www.wanderbirdcruises.com.
