The Friends of Fort Knox are actively seeking volunteer zombies, ghosts, ghouls and general “spookified” folks, for this year’s annual Fright at the Fort event, this October. One of Maine’s largest Halloween events, Fright at the Fort takes place the last two Fridays/Saturdays, October 18, 19, 25 and 26, from 5:30 PM until 9 PM.

A theme element to this year’s Fright theme is “What’s Plaguing You?” in reference to the “Black Death”, which ravished Europe during the Middle Ages. Fright will also feature a myriad of other frightening people, props and effects designed to put a shudder into even the bravest visitors.

Volunteers are needed to spook and lead groups of visitors through the dark, twisting turns of the Fright route. Volunteer individually or as a group.

Visitors are guided through the dark passageways of the 19th Century granite fortification where various horrific scenes and spooks await them.

Volunteer individually or as a group to scare visitors or act as tour guides.

Interested volunteers may download a volunteer application on the Fright web site found on fortknox.maineguide.com or contact Leon Seymour, executive director of the Friends of Fort Knox, at 469-6553 or email him at FOFK1@aol.com

Proceeds from Fright at the Fort help the Friends of Fort Knox ongoing restoration efforts.
