Viking Va-K 5K and Family Fun Run

BRUNSWICK — The first Viking Va-K 5K and Family Fun Run is scheduled to be held Saturday, June 15, at St. John the Baptist Church. The 5K race starts at 8 a.m. followed by the half-mile family fun run at 9:30 a.m.

The 5K and Family Fun Run are presented by the St. John’s Catholic School Partners in Partnership with proceeds to benefit SJCS community.

Both runs (walkers welcomed) will depart and finish by the statue of Mary on Saint John’s property. The 5K race is a mostly flat neighborhood course with return on McKeen Street and finish on Pleasant Street at the annual Bazaar. The Half-Mile Kids Fun Run will depart and finish the same as the 5K. It will proceed on Union Street then onto Cedar Street, to Baribeau Century 21 Agency through street, onto Pleasant Street, to finish by the statue.

The awards will begin following the Kids Fun Run at center stage of the Bazaar for the 5K First Overall Male and Female Finisher and Top Two in each age categories of male and female finishers, 13-under, 13-19, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. All Kids (12 yrs. and under) in the non-timed Fun Run will receive a t-shirt, finisher’s medal and two free Bazaar ride tickets.

The fee for the 5K race is $25 with a free T-shirt for the first 100 participants. The free for the half-mile family fun run (12 years and under) is $10 and includes a T-shirt, finisher’s medal and two free bazaar ride tickets.

Printable registration form available at www.saint-johns-brunswick.pvt.k12.me.us or online registration at www.active.com. The printable form can be returned to SJCS ( 37 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, ME 04011) and make checks payable to: SJCS memo: 5K Road Race.

Bib pick-up (no-timing chip) and same day registration (200 person cap for 5K) and (50 kid fun run cap) will take place from 6:30 a.m.-7:45 a.m. race day at center stage of the Saint John’s Bazaar.
