Veterans Benefits Workshop May 18 includes presentation of Equine Assisted Learning

Veterans’ Benefits Workshop at Cary Medical Center May 18 2013, 12pm. (moved from the Chan Center to the Veterans’ Home Caf) Will help Vets and families to become aware of the services available to them. New this year is Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) Services to be offered free of charge in Van Buren. Piloting EAL for Veterans, Service Members and Families in Aroostook, Nancy Dumond Violette will be among several presentors offering services to Veterans. Since EAL has proven helpful accross the USA, Dumond Violette will encourage Vets and families to visit the farm and decide if they would like to return as a family, Vet group or as individuals to see how horses can offer relaxation, recreation, physical or emotional support, self and social awareness or just simple good company.

Other VA services will be presenting, with representives from service groups available to offer information.
