PORTLAND, Maine — As a firm that values community service amongst its attorneys and staff, Verrill Dana has created an award to annually recognize one person from the firm who, according to Managing Partner Keith Jones, “embodies this spirit of community service.” The award has been named The Roger A. Putnam Community Service Award in honor of Verrill Dana attorney Roger Putnam, whose more than 50 years of service to Verrill Dana have exemplified the ideals of service to the community and to the legal profession. Mr. Putnam was the first recipient of the award at a recent gathering of Verrill Dana’s staff and attorneys from all of the firm’s offices across New England. In his presentation of the award to Mr. Putnam, Keith Jones commented “His influence on the legal profession in Maine is so pervasive; a complete list of his contributions could take all night. It’s clear that Roger’s community service will leave a lasting legacy and inspire all of us. The legal profession in Maine and the community are better for his contributions, and that is why we’ve named this award in his honor, and we are pleased to name him as its first recipient.”
