FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Kennebunkport, Maine – June 12, 2014. VentiCordi Chamber Music brings a new season of musical delights to Kennebunkport this summer as they present concerts from July 10 – August 14. In addition to the three Thursday evening performances at the historic South Congregational Church in Kennebunkport on July 10, July 31 and August 14, they will return to perform at the Springvale/Sanford Historical Society on August 1 and at the newly rebuilt Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick on August 13.

From the beginning, audiences have learned to expect the unexpected at a VentiCordi concert, with excellent and enjoyable results. As the Classical Voice of New England wrote of a VentiCordi performance, ‘When music is played with enlightened soul, it speaks directly to the listener, as this did.’ A VentiCordi concert effortlessly blends familiar masterworks with lesser known jewels. In addition to familiar names such as Mozart, de Falla and Poulenc, there are American greats such as Ned Rorem, and composers with fascinating back stories such as Hans Gál, who escaped Nazi Germany to find refuge composing beautiful music in Scotland.

Kathleen McNerney, oboist, and Dean Stein, violinist are the founders and Artistic Directors of VentiCordi. They take great care in crafting this unique, accessible concert series, dedicated to chamber music for winds and strings. Each summer they invite the best chamber musicians from across America to join them. The Portland Press Herald offered praise for a ‘…fascinating selection of works from baroque to contemporary, well performed by the founders and noted guest artists.’ This season will be no exception! Joining Kathleen and Dean are pianists Pamela Mia Paul, Bridget Convey and George Lopez, violists Michelle LaCourse and Stephanie Fong cellists Ashima Scripp and Jing Li, flautist Kathy Boyd, clarinetist Mark Simons and bassoonist Wren Saunders.

General admission is $20, Seniors $15; 18 and under, $5. You may order tickets in advance online by credit card.
