In commemoration of achieving a significant milestone by writing $5 million in premium with Acadia Insurance, company president Doug Nelson and Vice President Jonathan Becker presented the Varney Agency with a handcrafted, artisan grandfather clock on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

“We are pleased to recognize the Varney Agency for this accomplishment. The clock is a symbol of our gratitude for the successful business partnership between Acadia and Varney over these past 18 years,” said Doug Nelson, President, Acadia Insurance. “Varney and Acadia both believe in delivering excellent products and service that meet the needs of our local communities, and it is this alignment in values that helps make this partnership so successful.”

“Reaching this great milestone has always has been our goal with Acadia, and it feels great to reach it today,” said Tim Varney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Varney Agency. “We have a strong relationship with Acadia and the W.R. Berkley Corporation because we can always count on them to do what’s right. Like us, they have that personal commitment to the community.”

The Varney Agency opened more than 30 years ago in Bangor, Maine. “We saw a need in the market to deliver a more hands-on and personal approach for insurance buyers by better explaining and matching coverage with their insurance needs,” said Bill Varney, Chairman of the Board, Varney Agency. “That continues to be our mission today and vision for the future as we strive to deliver the best service possible to our customers.”

The handcrafted grandfather clock serves as recognition to the Varney Agency for their excellence and to acknowledge their long-term commitment to Acadia Insurance and their local community. The Varney Agency is the 30th agency to receive this distinguished grandfather clock, crafted by local Portland artist, Jamie Johnston.
