GORHAM, Maine – The University of Southern Maine Huskies baseball team will hold its 24th annual Baseball Clinic for players in grades three through 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Costello Field House on the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine.
This popular clinic will allow players to learn proper pitching, defensive and hitting techniques from the Huskies’ baseball staff and team members. Clinic participants will perform various drills and will be evaluated and given instruction to make any necessary adjustments in technique. Defensive stations will include throwing, pitching, infield, outfield and catching. Hitting will have five stations that break down the swing.
Clinic participants will be grouped by age and ability and should bring their own bat and glove. The fee for the clinic is $50 per registrant.
Led by veteran head coach Ed Flaherty (842-379-4), the Huskies’ have claimed two NCAA Division III National Championships (1991 and 1997). Last season, Southern Maine finished as the NCAA Division III National Runners-Up setting a school-record for wins with a 46-10 overall record. The Huskies’ also claimed the 2013 Little East Conference regular season and conference tournament titles.
