University of Maine School of Performing Arts presents the Chamber Jazz Ensemble

Orono, Maine–The UMaine Chamber Jazz Ensemble will present a lively program of wonderful jazz standards and contemporary works from the great masters of the art like Sonny Rollins and Duke Ellington on Tuesday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Minsky Recital Hall on the UMaine campus in Orono. Admission is $9 or free with a student MaineCard. Tickets can be purchased at the Collins Center for the Arts or at the door, for tickets or disability accommodations, call 207.581.1755.

Under the direction of Associate Professor of Music, Karel Lidral, the twelve member ensemble represents a wide variety of the student body, many music majors and minors, along with science, French, and Engineering majors.The program will include several spirited and inspired student improvisations, great standard Jazz literature and individual artistic expressions.

The group will also be performing at the University of Maine Open House in the Collins Center for the Arts on Monday, April 15 at 8:30 a.m.; at the Bangor Public Library on Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m.; and in the “Jazz Corner” of Union Central in the Memorial Union on the UMaine campus on Monday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to noon.
