ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine student organization Respect, Education, Action, Community, Hope will offer a Parents’ Day Out 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at University of Maine New Balance Student Recreation Center.

Parents can drop off children while they run errands, go holiday shopping or enjoy a day to themselves. Children will spend the day taking part in activities such as basketball, soccer, swimming or crafts with REACH members and other volunteers from the UMaine community.

The event is a fundraiser for the group’s spring service trip to India with a nonprofit organization called Yearoutindia. During the trip, students plan to work on a sanitation project and help rebuild a nursery. Fee is by donation.

Children from surrounding communities are welcome on Dec. 7.
