University of Maine’s German Club “Der Deutsche Verein”  will hold free Easter Celebration open to the public 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at University of Maine Museum of Art, 40 Harlow St. Pre-registration is not necessary.
It is an age old custom to hang painted egg shells from branches to celebrate the Easter season in the German speaking countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The German club will teach patrons how to paint blown-out eggs to take home. There will also be some painted eggs for sale.

Come for the artistic celebration of the season and stay for a piece of German pastry. The University’s German Club has again won an award for its dessert at the 2013 Culturefest on campus. All proceeds for the painted eggs and the cakes benefit the educational mission of UMMA.
