On behalf of the Trekkers’ staff, students and their families, I would like to thank everyone who made the Autumn Masquerade Fundraiser such a success. Held at The Speakeasy on Saturday, October 19, the Autumn Masquerade was a fun dance party to raise funds and awareness for Trekkers. The event was also a great way to celebrate Hot Pink Flannel’s 5th anniversary and the 20th anniversary for Trekkers.
My sincere thanks go to Erica Sanchez from Rock City Café who collaborated us, shared her ideas and expertise, and coordinated the venue and entertainment for the evening. Thanks also to the Hot Pink Flannel members Sarah Woodman, Teisha Hufnagel, Jared Paradee and Erica Sanchez who helped put up the fantastic decorations that created a mysterious autumn outdoorsy vibe. Thanks to Program Manager Emily Carver and her students who participated in a “Crafternoon” activity to decorate masks for the event with touches of feathers, bright colors and glitter. Thanks also to DJ MJ for providing the music and to Kerri Leuhman who donated her time and talent to do face painting.
Our special thanks go to Kathleen and Kevin LaBree for allowing us to hold the event at The Speakeasy, the new lower level lounge at The Chowder House in Rockland. I also want to thank all of the Trekkers staff who not only helped decorate and clean-up, they also greeted the guests who enjoyed the night with us. And, of course, thanks to everyone who attended this fun event. We raised money while making new friends and creating connections for the future.
It’s great to live in a community with wonderful groups like Hot Pink Flannel, and wonderful people who attend events like this to support local nonprofits. We couldn’t do all that we do without all of you.
