10th Grade Trekkers pause during a hike in the Colorado Rockies last August. Trekkers will provide expeditionary learning programs to more than 180 students in grades 7 through 12 in the coming year.

The 2nd annual Trekkers Auction will be held on Saturday, November 3, at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. The auction is a fundraising event for Trekkers, an outdoor-based mentoring nonprofit that connects young people with caring adults through community service, expeditionary learning and adventure-based education. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Trekkers students by directly lowering their program cost. The evening will include a live and silent auction and a buffet featuring 80 desserts.

The auction will include a variety of fantastic items for any budget. Trekkers Program Coordinator Elisabeth Lohmueller encourages everyone to, “Come to the auction and jumpstart your holiday gift shopping while supporting a good cause!” Some of the featured items include a six-day African safari for two, including lodging, all meals and two daily game viewing activities; a Port Clyde Stay & Play package with a weeklong summer cottage rental for eight in Port Clyde; two Monhegan Boat Line cruises; two sea kayaking tours from Port Clyde Kayaks; two biplane rides from the Owls Head Transportation Museum; paintings by Maine artists David Scriven Crowley, David Footer, Lydia Kaeyer and Barbara Applegate; $300 worth of fuel oil; an evening of DJ services; a spa basket including a massage, facial and skin products; and much, much more!

Event admission and paddle registration are free. For a $5 donation, auction goers can enjoy the dessert buffet for the entire evening. The auction preview will take place from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the live and silent auctions from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Owls Head Transportation Museum is located at 117 Museum Street in Owls Head, ME. For more information about the event, or about the Trekkers organization, please contact Elisabeth at the Trekkers office: (207) 594-5095.
