Trail to Ale 10K slated Sept. 22 in Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — The Trail to Ale will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, on Eastern Promenade.

The following roads will be closed for the time period specified:

  • Eastern Promenade Ave (by Quebec St) to Washington St closed to parking and traffic from 8:30-9:15
  • Fox from Washington to Anderson, then Anderson from Fox to Plowman closed to traffic from 9-9:30
  • Cutter St and Cutter St lots closed from 7 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. but open for boat launch traffic
  • After-party with beer tent, food, & DJ on Cutter St parking lot from 9:30-noon

The 10 K race follows the Eastern Promenade Road, around the East End Elementary School, down Fox St to Anderson St to the Bayside Trail, looping Back Cove for a finish near East End Beach. Packet Pick up will occur on the Eastern Promenade and the post-race party take place at the middle lot on the Eastern Prom. Our 2012 race attracted 1800 participants and was tremendously successful-supporting trail development and open space conservation all across greater Portland.

Portland Trails is seeking volunteers to assist with race prep and management on Friday and Saturday. Volunteers are rewarded with free beer, pizza, and a t-shirt at the after-party. Follow this link to volunteer! Or call 775-2411.
