Don’t miss The Great Fall Auction and Flea Market at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. This two-day event, Saturday, November 2 and Sunday, November 3, is our annual museum fundraiser and open house. Museum admission is free both days of the event.
From vacations and gift certificates to heating oil, pre-owned vehicles, home furnishings and more, The Great Fall Auction is an event that attracts a broad audience of bidders and spectators. It has been referred to as “one stop holiday shopping.”
While the live auction will take place on Sunday, Saturday will feature a flea market, auction sneak preview, silent auction and registration for Sunday’s live auction, all beginning at 9:00 a.m. On Sunday, auction preview, registration and silent auction bidding begin at 8:00 a.m., and the live auction begins at 9:30 a.m.
Saturday’s flea market will consist of hundreds of donated items not included in the auction. These items represent a myriad of donations and include antiques, household goods, books, home furnishings, tools, art work, decorations, gift items and much, much more.
Items to be offered for sale in the live auction include several private donations made by members and friends of the Museum. Highlights include a 1998 Volvo V70 wagon, an Aruba vacation package from Divi Aruba, a brand new Fisher snow plow, heating oil, airfares, gift certificates for lodging, dining, goods and services and numerous vacation stays in locations including the South of France, Myrtle Beach, Cape Cod and Southport Island.
All proceeds from the event will be used to support museum programs.
The Museum is still accepting donations of goods and services. No donation is too large or too small to consider for this important museum fundraiser, which is supported by the generosity of both businesses and private donors. Additionally, museum personnel will happily pick up large donations at their location.
