Times Record editor departs to restart PR firm

Posted April 01, 2014, at 11:30 a.m.

Bob Mentzinger announced today he has departed the top newsroom role at The Times Record to restart his public relations firm in the run-up to the 2014 elections.

“This is a unique year in Maine politics and several candidates have reached out,” Mentzinger said. “It’s going to be exciting.”

Through his PR firm Writing Maine, Mentzinger served as media adviser to Cynthia Dill, a state senator from Cape Elizabeth who captured the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in a statewide election in 2012. Other clients have included MaineShare, Friends of the Maine Woods and Breathable Home, a small home energy-efficiency contractor.

Recognized last year by the Maine Press Association as the best editorial writer in Maine in 2012-13, Mentzinger was elected to his local school board in 2012 and was mentioned as a future Democratic candidate in former Maine House District 83 in 2013.
