Library will sponsor ‘Tick Talk’

BAR HARBOR, Maine —  Dr. Beatrice Szantyr, medical director of MaineLyme, who serves on the CDC’s Vector-Borne Disease Work Group, will give a “Tick Talk,” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Jesup Memorial Library. Learn about tick ecology, how to avoid getting a tick bite and what to do if you do find a tick attached to you or a loved one. Szantyr will also go over signs and symptoms of Lyme disease and its co-infections. MaineLyme, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote awareness, education and prevention of tick borne diseases, will be present with displays and brochures. The event is free and open to all.
