ORONO, Maine — The third annual Recorder Workshop in Maine will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Class of 1944 Hall, Room 100, University of Maine, Orono.
This year’s workshop will be hosted by the Music Department and presented by AcouSticks Recorder Consort. Deborah Booth, renowned recorder virtuoso and teacher, based in New York City, will be the instructor.
Beginner-intermediate level will be 9 a.m.-noon, with check-in at 8:45 a.m.; intermediate-advanced level 1-4 p.m. and check-in at 12:45 p.m. Both include 30 minute breaks, with snacks and beverages provided. Lunch is on your own. Either bring a brown bag lunch or eat at UMaine’s Memorial Union.
Cost is $30 per session if received by Sept. 14; $40 thereafter; $15 for UMaine students with valid identification; $5 for copies of music used in workshop. Free music for UM students. Cancellations before Sept. 7 will be fully refunded; $10 processing fee applied thereafter. On-site registration may be available but cannot be guaranteed.
Both also will be available for private lessons with individual participants and ensembles, but advance notice must be provided. Rates for individual instruction are: $80 per hour for individual; $90 for duet; and $150 for quartet for 1.5 hours.
