The Mohawk Arts Collective will present the Maine premiere of a new show from Three Sticks, a Brooklyn-based performance troupe in residence in Bass Harbor on MDI throughout the month of July.
The Traveling Musicians is a theatrical rock concert about the fictional animal glam rock band, Rooster Donkey Cat Dog. It features original music performed live and a cabaret setting that hasn’t yet been seen at the Barn.
The Three Sticks artists-in-residence, Andrew Lynch, Katie Melby and Eric Powell Holm, have already made an impression on the island with performances at the Mohawk Arts Concert Party on Saturday night. Mount Desert Islander arts columnist Nan Lincoln calls the group “uber-talented” and describes watching them perform as a “singular pleasure. …this PG13 rated show is going to be huge fun and a rare chance for MDI audiences to get a little taste of Off Off Broadway in a little red barn in Bass Harbor.”
The Traveling Musicians runs July 11-20, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8pm and Sunday performances at 5pm. The show has a $5 cover and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
The Barn is located at 130 Tremont Rd. in Bass Harbor on Mount Desert Island in Maine. Parking is across the street at the Tremont Consolidated School.
The Mohawk Arts Collective is an MDI arts group that hosts residencies in and around The Barn, their waterfront performance space. During the summer, they develop new work every week and offer shows for the public every weekend.
