The Marines are coming…

Posted Nov. 29, 2012, at 8:40 a.m.

That is the message delivered by the Marine Corps Toys for Tots coordinator. On December 22nd the Knights of Columbus will hold a Military Appreciation Ball at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Kent, Maine.

Active duty members representing each branch have been invited and to date Army Soldiers and a large contingent of Marines and Sailors will all be on hand in full dress uniforms. One of the US Navy Sailors is coming all the way from Virginia to attend the event and Northern Door Inn has graciously provided lodging for this honoree traveling such a great distance. The service members will be served in place by local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in uniform.

Veterans are also encouraged to attend as we recognize that they have forged the path before and safeguarded the torch of freedom so that we may enjoy the peace and tranquility of the blessed season drawing near.

The evening will begin with a 5pm Social Hour followed by a meal at 6pm. At 8pm the band “Tennessee Haze” will provide live music so that all can dance the night away.

Dress is formal and proceeds will benefit the US Marine Corp Toys for Tots, a program that benefits so many needy children in Aroostook County and the State of Maine.
