“The Last Word: an end of life book discussion series” at the Pittsfield Public Library

The Pitsfield Public Library and the Mid-Maine Community Forum are presenting a four month long special program “The Last Word: an end of life book discussion series”. With the help of special speakers and four types of literature (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and autobiography), we will explore and discuss various aspects of preparing for our own death and for those we care about. The first program is Thursday, February 13 at 5:00 pm at the Pittsfield Public Library to discuss the book “Me Before You” by JoJo Moyes. The second program is Thursday, March 13, 5:00 pm at the First Universalist Church of Pittsfield. We will start with a discussion of “Without” a book of by Donald Hall floowed by guest speaker Chuck Lakin who will talk about alternative funerals. The third session is Thursday, April 10, 5:00 pm at First Universalist Church of Pittsfield. We will talk about the book “The Final Gifts” by Maggie Callanan and guest speaker Susan Morton will talk about hospice care. The final program is Thursday, May 8, 5:00 pm at the Pittsfield Public Library, book to be discussed will be “The End of Your Life Book Club” by Will Schwalbe. Books may be borrwed threough the Pittsfield Public Library. This series is sponsored by the Pittsfield Public Library and the Mid-Maine Community Forum with a grant from the Maine Humanities Council.
