The Landing School Appoints New Faculty Member to Yacht Design Program

Arundel, ME – July 11, 2013 – The Landing School, a post-secondary institution focused on educating tomorrow’s marine industry professionals, is pleased to announce they have hired Sean Fawcett as a Yacht Design Program Instructor. With more than 30 years of yacht design experience, Fawcett will be responsible for helping instruct The Landing School’s preeminent Yacht Design program.

“With his impressive track record, Sean brings a tremendous depth and breadth of capability to The Landing School,” stated Bob DeColfmacker, President of The Landing School. “Sean’s experience as a yacht designer combined with his in-depth experience in technology will surely be an asset as we continue to grow. The area of yacht design is highly technical and our Yacht Design program is renowned for producing designers who are ready to hit the ground running. Sean’s extensive understanding of design will help guide the future of this program and ensure our graduates are in high demand.”

Fawcett, a former Chief Designer for Pedrick Yacht Designs also ran his own design firm for four years. Notably, during that time he was a member of the technical team for the successful AMERICA3 1992 America’s Cup defense. In addition, Fawcett acted as the Director of Global Services Development at Parametric Technology and Executive Vice President at Boatbookings.com.

“I am very excited about this new chapter in my career,” said Fawcett. “I’ve worked extensively on the corporate side of yacht design for many years and am looking forward to bringing the knowledge I have acquired to the next generation of designers.”
