In addition to the fun packed schedule in the Egg Festival books, on http://www.centralmaineeggfestival.org and http;//www.pittsfield.org, there are some new developments:
At the Airport Fly-in at the Pittsfield Municipal Airport off Harrison Street, which has events all day, there will be a hot air balloon tethered at the airport. Yes, someone is flying in early with their hot air balloon and tying it down for display. There will not be any balloon rides because the airplane rides will be going on and planes will be flying in and out all day. However, you will be able to see a hot air balloon and how it is set up.
Also some “antique airplanes” are coming to Town! When you add these to all the “experimental aircraft” coming in, this fly-in will definitely be quite interesting.
Remember, children ages 8-17 can have a free airplane ride between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at the fly-in. A parent or guardian needs to be present to register the child. Children from all communities are welcome!
Softball is back to stay! 12:00 noon after the Famous Big Parade, Cianbro and The Maine Central Institute Alumni Association are in their second year of bringing back an Egg Festival tradition… Softball! Whether you are an employee of Cianbro or Alumni of MCI (or just want to play softball) be sure to swing down to the Softball Field at Manson Park on Saturday at noon! Bring your Cianbro blue or Husky maroon shirt and be a sub, ringer, pinch runner, fan or bench warmer… they want everyone to participate!
Plus remember to attend our new event – Timber Tina’s Great Maine Lumberjack show with 3 showings at 12:00 noon; 2 pm; and 5 pm. Events include Power “Hot Sawing, Axe Throwing, Cross-Cut Sawing, Chainsaw Carving, Underhand Chopping
and Log Rolling.
When you look at the schedule of all of the fun events, contests and showings, there is something for everyone!
