At the end of January, the Winslow Public Library will be offering a “Technology Petting Zoo” to patrons. E-books and tablets are growing in popularity and devices are widely available with many different types from which to choose. For the purpose of providing hands-on familiarization and training with e-readers and tablets, the Maine State Library created a “Technology Petting Zoo” of devices.
The Winslow Public Library will have the devices from January 23 through January 30. Each day Samantha Cote, Youth Services/Technology Librarian, will be offering drop-in tech help from 1:30-2:30 PM. On January 30, Jared Leadbetter from the Maine State Library will be coming at 2:30 PM. to give an overview of all the devices. Devices include Google Nexus 7 and Apple iPad mini tablets, Nook SimpleTouch (e-reader), Nook HD+ (tablet), Kindle Fire (tablet), and Kindle PaperWhite (e-reader). We have limited devices, so registration is suggested. Drop-ins will also be welcome. Please call the Library to register or for more information, (207) 872-1978.
Stay tuned for more information about social media trainings the library hopes to offer in February. Come in to learn about Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Vine, SnapChat, online dating safety and more!
