Boston, MA — Tara Shuman, an attorney in Verrill Dana’s Boston office, has been recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for excellence in pro bono legal services at the 2014 Excellence in the Law event.
She and other Excellence in the Law Honorees received their awards at a ceremony held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel on May 1. In 2013, Tara was also honored for her commitment to the provision of pro bono legal services by the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project, who named her as the 2013 Pro Bono Asylum Attorney of the Year.
Tara Shuman practices in Verrill Dana’s Health Care; Academic and Clinical Research; and Life Sciences groups. She maintains a general health law practice and often counsels academic medical centers, medical schools, health systems, and hospitals on issues related to academic and clinical research, conflicts of interest, health care reform, and corporate transactions. She has also advised hospitals, universities, medical device companies, pharmacy benefit managers, pharmaceutical companies, and other health care providers in developing effective compliance policies, including those related to privacy issues. She earned her law degree, cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School, and her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Bowdoin College.
