Thanks to a little friendly competition and the generosity of TAMC employees, a silent auction held at TAMC recently raised $2000 for the United Way of Aroostook.
Departments of TAMC, both at the hospital and at TAMC’s other facilities, assembled 29 different auction items for the event, which were open for bid during December. Most of the items were themed gift baskets, each containing numerous items. The annual auction, in its 14th year, occurs every December for the purpose of raising money for the United Way. The event, which is organized through TAMC’s human resources department, has become a popular holiday-time tradition for TAMC employees.
“TAMC has supported the United Way for many years, both through our workplace campaign as well as by freeing up employee’s time to serve on the United Way’s local Board of Directors and to volunteer for various United Way projects,” said Becky Sperrey, TAMC director of revenue cycle/financial services, who serves on the United Way of Aroostook’s Board of Directors.
Through the silent auction and the collective individual employee donations made through TAMC’s workplace campaign, employees contributed nearly $25,000 the United Way this past year in support of friends and neighbors in Aroostook County who are in need.
“United Way of Aroostook is very pleased with the continued support that we received from TAMC employees. During my tenure as executive director, which is 14 years, they have been one of our largest supporters. The combined amount raised over those years is nearly $300,000, which has allowed the United Way to invest in our communities through the agencies that we help support,” said Claudia Stevens. “In addition we are supported with assistance from TAMC employees helping with events, sponsorships, Campaign Chair, and a TAMC employee is always a member of our board of directors. I cannot thank TAMC employees enough for the dedication to United Way of Aroostook and the people we serve.”
The United Way of Aroostook, which has been serving the county for over 40 years, mobilizes resources to improve the lives of people in our communities.
