As part of their continuing effort to become the best rural healthcare organization in America, TAMC officials will seek valuable input on medical services from attendees at the upcoming TAMC Community Lunch and Learn/Healthy Aging event on February 11.
“Table Talk with TAMC” is sponsored by the TAMC Patient Experience Workgroup, with a goal of gathering insight from the public on the TAMC patient experience in an effort to improve care and services at the hospital. The luncheon will take place at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center beginning at 11:00 a.m.
After every hospital stay, TAMC sends a patient satisfaction survey by Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHP) that provides the hospital valuable information about the patient’s experience. Event organizers hope that at the Healthy Aging focus group, TAMC staff will hear directly from patients on their thoughts and experiences with the hospital.
“Members of the Patient Experience Workgroup will then review the captured data and develop a plan of action to help us improve the perception of our patients as evidenced by HCAHP scores,” said Lynn F. Turnbull, RN, event co-chair and director of clinical education, hemodialysis & chaplaincy services. “Results will be shared with TAMC leadership, and it is our hope that this event will be a first step to involving our patients in other educational offerings for our staff.”
The Healthy Aging event will include lunch at 11:00 a.m., followed by “Table Talk” at noon. At least one TAMC representative will be seated at each table to facilitate a casual and comfortable discussion based on questions from the HCAHP surveys. The discussion leader will take notes on the focused discussion, the results of which TAMC will share at a future Healthy Aging event.
