CUMBERLAND, ME – July 17, 2017 – Tamara Risser, P.E., an environmental compliance and management expert, has joined Sevee & Maher Engineers (SME) as an environmental engineer.
Risser, a Maine-licensed professional engineer, will assist SME clients in becoming and staying compliant with local, state, and federal environmental regulatory requirements. In this role, she works closely with a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing firms. Her work involves helping clients understand their regulatory obligations; developing internal compliance plans, practices and programs; and preparing and filing required documentation. She also advises clients on how to stay ahead of complex and ever-changing rules and regulations.
“Tamara brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to SME,” said President Guy Cote. “Her previous work with major industrial facilities and government agencies gives her an excellent understanding of production operations and the corresponding compliance requirements.”
Risser has an extensive background in environmental compliance and management, most recently with her own consulting firm, Bantam Rock. She previously worked as an industry expert focusing on Environmental Compliance and Food Safety for the Water Division at IDEXX Laboratories in Westbrook, and held management positions in Quality Assurance, Environmental Compliance and Continuous Improvement for Nestlé Waters North America’s Poland Spring facilities in Maine. Risser was also an engineer for the Maine Drinking Water Program with the State of Maine and worked in land use planning for state and regional economic development groups.
She received a bachelor’s degree in English and Environmental Studies from Bowdoin College, and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Environmental Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
In her free time, Risser is active in many civic organizations and activities, including the Casco Bay Estuary Project, the Maine Science Festival and the Maine Women’s Forum.
