(Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 3 to June 26, 10 to 11am, Foster Room, New Balance Student Recreation Center, University of Maine, Orono, members: $40; nonmembers: $60) Class is offered in collaboration with Gateway Seniors Without Walls. Tai Chi has been practiced in China for centuries for health and meditation and as a martial art. Research suggests the slow and gentle movements of Tai Chi lower blood pressure, strengthen the immune system and improve balance, reducing the likelihood of falls by up to 40%.
