Sundancer to be guest presenter at Lincolnville church

LINCOLNVILLE, Maine — The United Christian Church invites the public to join them at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, for a special presentation by Sundancer Tammy Harmon. Organist Marcia Anderson will accompany the Wing and a Prayer Choir, who will provide special music for the service.

Harmon is of Mi’kmaw, Lebanese, and French heritage. She has a degree in Health Care Administration and is a Patient Advocate for Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.   In her presentation at the United Christian Church, Ms Harmon, a singer, drum maker, Sundancer, and teacher of Sundance spirituality, will speak about the tradition of the sweat lodge and its integral role in the Sundancer manner of prayer.  She will also offer traditional Sundance songs.

The United Christian Church was built in 1821 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places.  It has its original boxed pews, leaded glass windows, lower and upper balconies, and it is fully handicapped accessible. The Church is located at 18 Searsport Road, Route 173, in Lincolnville Center, next door to the Lincolnville Community Building.  All are welcome.  For further information call Pastor Susan Stonestreet at 763-4526.
