SummerKeys Faculty to Perform in Lubec
Gregory Biss, well-known pianist, composer and Eastport resident, will perform a Mary Potterton Memorial Concert with other SummerKeys colleagues on July 2 in Lubec’s Congregational Christian Church beginning at 7:30 PM. Performers will include:, Mary Mackenzie, voice; Eve Friedman, flute and piccolo; Patti Kilroy, violin and viola; Anna Maria Baeza, clarinet and bass clarinet; Joachim Woitun, cello with Greg Biss on piano.
We are excited to be offering a rare, if not unprecedented event for the state of Maine – the complete “Pierrot Lunaire” (1912) by Arnold Schoenberg. Other pieces featured will be: Three Times Seven Poems by Albert Giraud; What a Little Moonlight Can Do, (Harry Woods, 1934); Stars Fell on Alabama (Frank Perkins, 1934) Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars (“Corcovado”) (Antonio Carlos Jobim, 1960); Moondance (Van Morrison, 1970); Midnight Sun (Lionel Hampton and Sonny Burke, 1954); Reaching for the Moon (Irving Berlin, 1930); Big Orange Moon (John Harbison, 1952) and songs by John Mercer.
You can all expect an extra-terrestrial experience with our star-studded musicians!
This week’s intermission refreshments will be hosted by Homeport Inn.
The concert is free, but piano-tuning donations are always accepted.
