Candidate for district attorney for Washington and Hancock counties

People know I am a successful trial attorney and was a major crimes prosecutor in Cumberland County before becoming an assistant and Deputy District Attorney in Washington and Hancock counties.

What people need to know is that a defense attorney in Washington County has won 21 of 24 criminal trials, and that nine randomly selected jury trial files in Hancock County were resolved with 13 dismissed charges, three negotiated pleas, four guilty verdicts, and six not guilty verdicts.

People need to know adult drug court is essentially eviscerated because the DA will not offer agreed good and bad outcomes and there isn’t an active Veterans’ Court or reasonable alternatives to address the drug problem. Prosecutors ignore the statutorily created deferred sentencing option and, steadfastly and universally, refuse to file appropriate cases, as provided for in our criminal rules and used more than 100,000 times by other DA offices. We are all wrongly denied these programs and benefits which are available and used throughout the rest of the state.

Victims, especially those of child sex abuse and domestic violence, police officers and ordinary citizens need a qualified, fair, ethical, effective, energetic and experienced District Attorney with a record of proven leadership.

I am Steven A. Juskewitch. I live in Dedham with my wife Andrea and two dogs after raising five children. I have a UMO Class of 1970 BA in Economics and a Maine Law School Class of 1976 JD. I served with the 82nd and South Korea; taught ethics, management, and problem solving to mid-career officers at Ft. Leavenworth; and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. I am 65 years old.
