MOUNT DESERT – The SPCA of Hancock County’s Annual Pet Show and Fair will be held rain or shine from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, at the Mount Desert Elementary School in Northeast Harbor.
Admission is free and all leashed pets are welcome.
You will have the opportunity to strut your pet in front of a panel of judges during the pet parade, which begins at 3 p.m. Prizes will be given in a variety of tongue-in-cheek categories, such as “Biggest Smile,” “Loudest,” and “Curliest Tail.”
The Pet Fair will also include dog agility demonstrations, face painting, a bake sale, pet portratis and a snow cone booth. A number or animal-related products will also be offered for sale.
“The Pet Show and Fair is a fun event that animal lovers look forward to all summer long,” said Jim Nobil, SPCA board member and co-chairman of the organization’s development committee. “Besides being a great time for all, the event helps raise awareness about the SPCA and the work that we do at the shelter. We are also looking for business sponsors for the Pet Fair.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit the SPCA shelter on Bar Harbor Road in Trenton. Since openings its doors in 2007, the shelter has cared for and found homes for many hundreds of homeless dogs and cats.
