Belfast. The University of Maine School of Social Work and the UMaine Hutchinson Center will host a workshop on Friday May 17, 2013 from 9am-3:30pm titled, Hot Topics in Social Work Ethics. This workshop will provide an understanding of the use of professional Social Work Ethics in Social Work or Human Services practice. Hot topic areas will include ethical management of social media in a “Facebook” environment; the ethical pitfalls in the use of technology; and ethical dilemmas in mental health and diagnostic assessment. Boundary issues in a rural environment will be a major focus with an emphasis on how the use of ethical practice improves professional practice and enhances outcomes for clients.
Presenters will include, Nancy Kelly, MSW, ACSW, Field Coordinator for the BASW and MSW programs at the University of Maine in Orono, Deirdre Finney Boylan, LCSW, Belfast Site Coordinator and the Coordinator of the Hartford Practicum partnership in Aging Education for the University of Maine’s School for Social Work and Gail Werrbach, Ph.D., LCSW, Director and Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Maine School of Social Work.
