Snowmobile Education Course ~ Just in time for winter!

In an effort to continue to provide the best services to area residents, the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to offer a Snowmobile Education Course at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center on Thursday, December 20th and Friday, December 21st from 6-9pm. The fee for the course if $5.00, preregistration is presently open by calling 493-4224.

The following is a breakdown of topics covered by this course:

Snowmobile Education Course:

Total Course = 6 Hours

Proper Operation and Safety Riding Skills-Equipment-Maintenance = 2 Hours

Laws = 30 Minutes

Emergencies & Survival = 40 Minutes

Map & Compass = 1 Hour

Self Help First Aid = 20 Minutes

Environmental/Landowner/Ethics = 1 1/2 Hours

Participants in this course will be taught how to properly operate and maintain a snowmobile. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will also be covered. Passage of a final exam is required. You must attend both evenings of the class in order to receive your certificate.

This is a great opportunity for parents and or guardians to spend a quality evening with someone considering getting into or who is already into the the sport of snowmobiling. Valuable life lessons will be covered in this course such as winter survival, land use ethics, compass and troubleshooting machine related issues.
