Sunday, February 3, 2013 (Caribou, Maine) – “The 9th Annual Andy Santerre SNO-RUN fund raiser event to raise awareness and funds for youth victims of Sexual Assault in Aroostook County will go forward as planned on February 9th, 2013,” says organizer Joe Chamberlain. Because of the current trail and snow conditions, Chamberlain indicates that the event organizers will make a decision on February 6 or 7th about the snowmobile ride portion of the event. All other parts of the 2013 Fundraiser Event, including the SNO-RUN/WALK 5K, will go forth as scheduled on Saturday morning at the Griffeth Ford dealership in Caribou. The same goes for all of the scheduled afternoon and evening festivities; including the 4:30 to 6:00 PM Social/ Autograph session with Andy Santerre and friends and the buffet dinner and charity auction at the Crow’s Nest Event Center in Presque Isle.
The SNO-RUN event has approximately 150 lots for auction to the highest bidder. A wide variety of things are available. The items include: gas and grocery cards; gift certificates for fuel oil, pellets, restaurant visits, flowers, jewelry and furniture; NASCAR race tickets and Sheet Metal from vehicles; Snowmobile Helmets, Jackets; and an autographed Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski 1/24th scale diecast car signed by Brad and his crew chief Paul Wolf.
“We have had 8 straight years of excellent trails and weather”, says Chamberlain, “ And we always hope the weather will cooperated. But, we have no control over the weather, so we will think positively and make the best of it. It is what it is. We have such a strong participation for this event. We had over 300 participants at the 8th Annual Event last year. It takes all year to organize the event to make it happen and it is a bit sad to have no snow.
However, Andy Santerre and I talked a few days ago about the lack of snow and we agreed that if we can’t do the snowmobile part of the event, we will join the SNO RUN/WALK 5K participants, which is scheduled at the same time as the 100 mile snowmobile ride is to occur. All of the riders will have that same option. If we can’t ride, why not get some much needed exercise and enjoy the day with all our friends.”
