Skowhegan Area Community Band seeks players

SKOWHEGAN, Maine – The Skowhegan Area Community Band is seeking more players. If you have played an instrument in the past and would like to play again, think about joining us. The band needs percussionists, flutes, clarinets, alto saxes, and trombones. What ever instrument you play, we would love to have you making music with us.

Our players live in Skowhegan, Madison, Canaan, Solon, Mercer, Vienna, Vassalboro, Monson, Waterville, and other central Maine towns. Members range in age from 14 to 80 years old and consists of retirees, music teachers, a photographer, barber, town manager, doctor, veterinarian, boat builder, and high school students.

Rehearsals are 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays, at  Centenary United Methodist Church, on Dr. Mann Road, in Skowhegan. Come to watch a rehearsal or come sit in and play. Rehearsals resume on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

Performances include: Christmas concerts, spring concerts, SAD 54 Adult Ed Graduation, Concert in Coburn Park in Skowhegan in August, and several concerts and parades (on a flatbed !!!) during the summer.
